PMR (Private Mobile Radio) is the European counterpart of the FRS (Family Radio Service) used in the US and Canada. The idea behind PMR (and FRS) is to be an inexpensive and practical solution without the need for licensing for activities such as camping, skiing, car-to-car communication and, of course, our airsoft games!
In the technical features now, the PMR transceivers have a power that reaches 500 mW. They also operate on part of the UHF frequencies (446.00625 - 446.09375 MHz) and have up to 8 channels. They may range from 5 to 10 km under favorable conditions, but their performance is reduced when obstructions (such as hills, buildings) or in general no visual contact (regardless of distance) are generally encountered.
The 8 channels of the PMR and their frequencies are:
CH 1 = 446.00625 Mhz
CH 2 = 446.01875 Mhz
CH 3 = 446.03125 Mhz
CH 4 = 446.04375 Mhz
CH 5 = 446.05625 Mhz
CH 6 = 446.06875 Mhz
CH 7 = 446.08125 Mhz
CH 8 = 446.09375 Mhz
